Meghan's Closet Clean Out

My organization challenge for 2014!!

Everyone has been asking to see the results of my massive room organization
and here they are!!

The plan for me was to go through everything in my room and
get rid of the things I wasn't using. Ive been living in the same place
almost four years, and let me tell you I had accumulated a TON of stuff.

I wish I had a before of my closet to show the amazing difference... but I think
I opted not to because it was SO bad. (aka, my walk in closet wasn't a walk in
anymore....) I did a lot of research on pinterest for ideas how to organize and
decide to get rid of things. We're talking like six carloads of things taken
to be donated, sold or given to people in need. There was also an
embarrassing amount of trash just stuck here and there.

This 2014 resolution was inspired by Hoarders and my OCD boyfriend.

Here are the results!

I organized my bras like Victoria's Secret and used drawer organizers
from Ikea to keep my socks, underwear and swimsuits in their place.

Closet
The biggest win of this organization challenge is definitely my closet. My biggest
investment was to get matching hangers for all of my clothes. And let me tell you
it makes a HUGE difference. I can actually see all my clothes and have fun picking
out my outfits for work. The baskets hold costumes and out of season clothing and
I used both an over the door shoe organizer as well as a shoe rack for my heels. There
is a small pail for flip flops as well! Laundry hamper from Ikea. Not shown are the
scarf and belt organizers, etsy shipping supplies and office supplies.

Bathroom
This was a MAJOR ordeal. I had so much makeup, hair products
other beauty products I wasn't using. All of my medicine is in the tackle box,
my hair accessories are in the one under it, and all my beauty products are in the
purple bin. I got a clear makeup organizer from Ikea for my makeup and used
a small dish to hold smaller items in the other drawer!

A new approach

So as I haven't hardly even thought about my blog in the last year, I am going to take a new approach. This is now a place to talk about all things, not necessarily just those things related to my journey to New York.

This past weekend I just celebrated my one year anniversary with my wonderful boyfriend Perry. We had a fantastic time and really just enjoyed being together. For the majority of our one year relationship, we have been long distance.  It sucks. I love him with all of my heart. He has seen the icky sticky parts of me and accepts them as things that have happened to me, not flaws in my character. With him I feel like a wonderful human with worth and talent. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have found a man who loves me completely for me. I remind myself everyday how lucky I am to have the things I have.

So 2014 is bringing lots of new things for me. I am organizing my entire life. I have given myself until June to complete my list of about 100 things to clean, de-clutter and organize. I am going to be moving to New York later this year and have to get my clutter under control and get rid of the things that are not serving me. This means stuff, but also emotional clutter. I am working to accept the things in my life that I have no control over and things that I cannot control. I am also taking control of my health, both physical and mental. I want to be in the best shape of my life, physically, spiritually, emotionally and organizationally by mid year.

So from now on, this is a forum to discuss my work, training, diets, organization and anything else that happens to tweak my fancy.

Stay tuned! Lots of interesting things coming!
